Professor Steven Goodman is Director of Research and Core Faculty for Asian and Comparative Studies Department, at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He received his Ph.D. (1984) in Far Eastern Studies from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, specializing in Tibetan Buddhism under the guidance of Herbert V. Guenther. He has lectured on Buddhist and comparative philosophy for over 25 years in the United States, Asia, and Europe. In 1994 he was awarded a Rockefeller Fellowship for the study of Tibetan mystical poetry (Wyl. nyams mgur) at the Rice University Center for Cultural Studies.

He currently serves as a Board Advisor to the Khyentse Foundation, and is on the Working Committee for the Buddhist Literary Heritage Project.

He taught at the Rigpa Shedra in Lerab Ling in 2002.

Publications

He co-edited (with Ronald M. Davidson) Tibetan Buddhism: Reason and Revelation (SUNY, 1992), and is author of the forthcoming Frogs in the Custard: Explorations in the View and Practice of Buddhist Psychology (Abhidharma), Snow Lion, based on his teachings at the Rigpa Shedra.
