Nine examples which illustrate how buddha nature is present in all beings, from the Uttaratantra Shastra:
- a buddha in the shroud of a decaying lotus
- pure honey amid a big swarm of bees
- grain contained within its husk
- a piece of gold in the midst of filth
- a precious treasure in the ground under a poor man’s house
- the shoot of a mango tree growing from a tiny fruit
- a statue of the Buddha made of precious gems inside a tattered rag
- a universal monarch in the womb of a woman of miserable appearance
- a golden image present inside a clay mould
