'''Prajapati Gotami''' (Skt. ''Mahāprajāpatī Gautamī''; Tib. [[སྐྱེ་དགུའི་བདག་མོ་ཆེན་མོ་གཽ་ཏ་མའི་]], Wyl. ''skye dgu'i bdag mo chen mo gau ta ma'i'') was both the [[Buddha]]'s maternal aunt and adoptive mother. She raised him after her sister, [[Mahamaya|Queen Maya]] (Mahāmāyā), the Buddha's birth mother, died. 

She was the first woman to request ordination from the Buddha and to join the [[Sangha]].
